Rhetus Arcius Butterfly
Oil painting of the endangered butterfly Rhetus Arcius. 8x 10 inch on Gessobord. Framed.
Also known as the Long-tailed Metalmark, the Rhetus Arcius is a neo-tropical species of the swallowtail family. This gorgeous black and metallic blue butterfly, native to a narrow region of Ecuador, is usually found singly in the vicinity of streams or ditches. It occurs in rainforest and cloudforest habitats at higher altitudes. The butterfly can be seen throughout the year.
